Creative Visualisation – Advice From Saint Thomas à Kempis

Here are two methods creative visualisation which you can use to alter your life for the better. These are basic techniques which ideally should be carried out every day. You may notice a certain similarity to techniques recommended by certain occult or new-age / theosophical sources suggesting that they are far eastern in origin, but in fact they are nothing of the sort: they were actually first mentioned by the fifteenth century mystic Saint Thomas à Kempis. Not only is this Saint respected in exoteric Christian circles, he is also endorsed in Rosicrucian ones as well, e.g. Theophilus Schweighardt.

Thomas à Kempis wrote:
If you cannot recollect yourself continuously, do so once a day at least, in the morning or in the evening. In the morning make a resolution and in the evening examine yourself on what you have said this day, what you have done and thought, for in these things perhaps you have often offended God and those about you.
Imitation of Christ, book 1, chapter 19, “The Practices of a Good Religious.”

Kempis has an unfortunate pre-occupation with sin and offending God, and comes across as negative. He could of course have focussed on the positive instead – by recollecting oneself at the end of the day one might discern that you have pleased God and those about you – not for the sake of indulging in piety, but for that of rejoicing in the goodness of the Universe.
Yet in this short quote Kempis has hit upon the basis for a workable system of daily creative visualisation. I have therefore formulated the following practices of which anyone of any faith (or lack thereof) may make use.

Morning: “Prospective Visualisation”

First thing in the morning on waking up, visualise how your day is going to proceed whilst mentally repeating an appropriate affirmation or resolution. You should visualise yourself being successful at everything you know is going to happen, i.e. you see yourself being happy, being popular, achieving what you want to achieve, etc. You can even visualise things coming to you from sources outside your conscious control – i.e. because your mind is connected to the Universe in ways which you only unconsciously appreciate. Never assume that anything is completely impossible, even if it seems unreasonable, because you would then be creating limiting self-beliefs.

Evening: “Retrospective Visualisation”

This is almost identical to an exercise which I recommend in connection with Lucid Dreaming. In the evening, last thing before going to bed, meditate by visualising the events of the day, remembering them backwards. When you discern something going right for you, contemplate a feeling of gratitude to whoever caused it, and to the universe in general. If you realise something went wrong, you should also express gratitude for being able to discern your mistake, and resolve that you will learn from your experience and do better in the future.

Results

Getting into the habit of using creative visualisation regularly everyday increases the probability that one day you will be pleasantly surprised to find events happening as you had intended them that morning. This can include apparently remarkable occurrences like people getting in contact with you, offering you opportunities, which you did not cause to happen. In fact you did cause them, though not in a way that skeptics might appreciate.
Retrospective visualisation helps to improve the memory – some sources allege that it can ultimately help one recall ones past lives. I also find that by doing this immediately before going to sleep, ones dreams are less likely to be plagued by memories of the day just gone, and instead will be filled with images from the deeper levels of the unconscious.

How To Eliminate Negative Thoughts And Fear – Positivism And Courage

If you have many negative thoughts and fears, this is because you have a problem, not because you should really have them. You are wrong, even if the conditions of your life are really horrible and you have to be a super hero to go on.

You have to live always hoping that something better will happen, something or someone will save you, and everything will be fixed, because this way you will believe in goodness and you will receive it from somewhere. This is the scientific explanation for the phenomenon observed in the law of attraction, according to which you attract to your life what you are thinking about.

The explanation for this phenomenon is that when you are full of negative thoughts and you don’t believe in goodness, you don’t deserve to receive it.

If you keep complaining and you are ready to abandon each battle from the beginning because you don’t believe in any victory, you don’t deserve to win in the end.

Why is your moral attitude so important? Because this is what keeps your mental health safe and balanced, preventing you from creating wars and killing your companions.

You have an organ that analyses your attitude, and depending on your goodness or evilness, you will be rewarded or punished by life. This is how things work on our planet, because we live in order to be transformed in real human beings, while we are merely wild animals with a tiny human conscience and a huge wild, violent and evil conscience that didn’t evolve like our human side.

The meaning of life and death was discovered thanks to the deep research into the unknown region of the human psyche through dream interpretation. It was discovered that the human being has a demonic origin, and at the same time, the existence of a superior human conscience inside him that analyses his attitude, in order to prevent the destructive action of the demonic, violent and wild conscience to destroy his humanity. Therefore, the human being lives in order to become really human, instead of being a violent monster who lives killing and destroying everything.

The horrors of our polluted world, so full of crimes, wars, poverty, immorality and indifference to the human pain, only confirm our demonic nature.

Believe in goodness during your despair like a human being, and if you do believe, the conditions of your life will change, and everything will start being much better. This is the same as to have faith, if you respect any religion.

You had better do so, because God really exists, and this has been confirmed by the extraordinary revelation reflected in the translation of our dreams according to the scientific method, since it becomes very clear to everyone that only a superior brain could send us in dreams so wise messages – this is visible when we learn how to translate the dream images to words we can understand.

The meanings we discover in the dream messages reflect the existence of real wisdom in the unconscious mind that produces our dreams. In other words, we not only discover the existence of a wise brain that sends us dreams with secret messages that become understandable once we learn the dream language, we discover that its words are full of wisdom and sanctity. This is really impressive!

God created the unconscious mind to help our human conscience survive and evolve, more and more.

When you learn how to translate your dreams according to the scientific method of dream interpretation discovered by Carl Jung and simplified by me, who continued his research, you’ll see that the dream messages always have a philosophical background. They are not only cold words that give you information: they are poetry and knowledge, which teach you the real meaning of existence.

You’ll see that all your fears and negative thoughts will disappear once you learn how to translate your dreams and you start understanding the guidance of the unconscious mind. It will not only give you a positive mood and courage to go on and triumph, as well as it will show you in your own dreams the ways through which you can solve all your problems.

This is what will really give you courage and self-confidence: the solution for all the problems that keep torturing you! While they exists, like a constant nightmare, how can you believe in a better future?

The unconscious mind will help you eliminate what is bad and develop what is good.

This is how you’ll overcome all your fears and will be always strong and sure that you’ll really win every battle, and this is how your life will improve and everything will start working according to what you desire.

Does Positive Thinking Work?

Does positive thinking work? Yes, it works, but there is a big difference between positive thinking and wishful thinking. There are so many people talking about positive thinking and how it is not working for them when in actuality they aren’t practicing positive thinking at all. What they are calling positive thinking is just wishful thinking.

What’s the difference, you ask? What is the difference between a positive thinker and a wishful thinker?

The wishful thinker: Sit’s on the couch watching TV, eating there third bowl of ice cream, dreaming about what it would be like to be thin and even tapes a picture of a swimsuit model on the mirror so she can long to know what it would feel like to be in that body.

The positive thinker: Sets time aside to visualize herself thinner, recites positive affirmations, sets a detailed goal, listens to her inner wisdom and takes the first step to getting healthy, tracks her progress and follows through with the knowing that a thinner, healthier life awaits her.

The wishful thinker: Sits at his desk and dreams of the perfect job. Sends out a few resumes, does just enough to get by at his current job because he hates it. Never takes any ideas to his boss because some day he will have a new job and this one doesn’t matter.

The positive thinker: Does his very best at his current job and makes the best of it. Sets time aside to visualize his perfect job. Decides if that perfect job can be created in his current office, makes a plan of action, talks to his boss if he believes the job can be created in his current office. Looks for the perfect job, doesn’t settle for anything less unless it gets him closer to his dreams. He learns new skills, meets new people and is confident in the direction he is headed.

The wishful thinker: Dreams about her dream home. Looks at houses for sale and says one day I will live in a house like that.

The positive thinker: Visualizes exactly what her house will look like, makes a plan of action. Requests a copy of her credit report, writes the appropriate letters, makes phone calls, pays off debts, contacts a real estate agent and doesn’t settle for a house that is less than what she wants.

Does positive thinking work? I’m here to say it does. The example above about the house: this is my story. I had tens of thousands of dollars in debt from medical bills and a few other discrepancies on my credit report. I made phone calls and wrote letters, paid what needed to be paid by cutting out any extras. I contacted a real estate agent and I bought a house that even my agent said I shouldn’t have been able to buy because no lender would ever give a loan on a house that needed so much work. A house I could make my own though by doing the work myself was my dream.

From the day that I requested my credit report, to the day I closed on my new home was less than 6 months. That was three years ago. So, yes, positive thinking does work. Don’t just be a wishful thinker be a positive thinker. Don’t just dream your dreams, make them happen.

Why Do Affirmations Work?

I‘m sure you have heard about positive affirmations, many of us have, but do affirmations work, and if so why or how do they work? What is the magic power behind them? What power do words really have, because aren‘t affirmation nothing more than words or positive phrases? If your interest is sparked, keep reading, because after you have read this short article you will have the answers to all of these questions and more. Not only will you understand why and how affirmations work, you will be figuring out a way to start using them right away in your life.

Affirmations are positive words or statements that are carefully constructed to state your deepest hopes, dreams and desires. These statements are then used to combat the constant negative beliefs and feelings, many of us harbor deep in our subconscious mind. When using positive affirmations, the common practice is to recite these positive statements a number of times throughout a set number of days. The reason for this is because it takes time to change a belief and or a habit. The experts say it takes 30 days to change a thought pattern or a habit. For this reason it is good practice to recite your affirmations for a minimum of 30 days.

So, now let’s answer the question, how are habits and beliefs formed? Simply put, habits and beliefs are formed through repetition. Let‘s do a little demonstration to see how this works, shall we. Let’s focus on our current belief system first. Let’s say we have seen study after study saying that eggs are bad for our health (which was once the case). So our belief is that eggs are bad for our health, but then there is a new study out that says eggs are good for our health. Our first reaction is to shrug off the results of this new study because there are so many other studies that say otherwise. Then something strange happens. You here a couple co-workers talking about the health benefits of eggs, then you read another study that says eggs are good for the heart. Now, your belief hasn’t changed, but you are teetering on which side to believe. The next day you over hear a doctor tell his patient that eggs are good. At this point you are convinced that eggs are good and you are spreading the word about the health benefits of eggs.

Habits work in much the same way. The first time someone takes a puff of a cigarette, they are not a smoker. As a matter of fact, most people cough and gag. What happens is, that they have a cigarette with their friends to look cool, they have a cigarette to calm the nerves, they have one to celebrate the new year with their friends, then they have one so they have a reason for a 5 minute break out of the office. Any one of these times is not significant, but the collective events is important. What happens is before they know it, they are lighting up without even thinking about it.

Why do affirmations work? They work because we are doing the same thing we did to create our current habit or belief. We are introducing the new thoughts and ideas into our brains and then we are repeating them until eventually we have a new belief or we have created a new habit. It’s not magic. It is just the way our minds work.

The question isn’t why do affirmations work. The real question is why aren’t we using affirmations in our everyday life? Logically, we know why affirmations work. If we think back to any belief we have or any habit, in many instances, we can pinpoint when that belief our habit was first introduced. We may not have been conscious of it at the time, but now we have the power to create new habits and beliefs with conscious creation. By simply introducing and repeating our deepest hopes, dreams and desires into our subconscious mind by reciting daily affirmations we are in fact creating new beli

Perception is Your Belief

We all view reality differently. Sure, we have a general agreement but when it comes down to details, we are all different because of our beliefs.

Suppose you are a witness to an accident. Perhaps there are five other people who also witnessed the accident. You can be assured that there will be six different versions of the accident. The reason for this is selective perception based on our beliefs.

For example, suppose the accident involved an economy car and an expensive car. Some of the witnesses will have more details about one car versus the other based on their beliefs.

The field of attention is very narrow. There is simply too many things that go on for use to consciously monitor. So, our belief structures determine what we process and what we ignore. This colors our view of reality.

In the field of Quantum Physics, these beliefs actually shape our reality!

If you want a more positive reality, you need to examine your beliefs.

To Improve Your Life: Stop Negative Gossip

A friend recently asked me “What would you have left to talk about if you took gossip out of the conversation?” Nice question! – because most of us spend a large part of our time gossiping. Maybe little “harmless” things, like the how the neighbours behave, how someone down the road was caught with someone else’s wife, how the guy next door was caught drink-driving, or how one of our children’s schoolmates got drunk. Most of us, to some extent, delight in gossip – particularly if it involves someone else falling on their face.

Of course, if you stop to think about it for a moment, none of this stuff is harmless. Actually, it’s harmful. First of all, it directs our energy towards the negative. More importantly, it reduces the amount of energy we have available to do what we’re supposed to be doing – right here, right now. It messes up your own personal effectiveness.

We’re all familiar with the saying that what goes around comes around – step onto that particular “sorry-go-round” and you’re in trouble! We also have a fair understand that you reap what you sow – same thing. These are eternal truths proved correct by modern science – quantum physics. You get out what you put in. Invest your energy in the negative – and your life will be little more than crappy itself. Revel in other’s misfortune and you’re setting the scene for misfortune yourself. A Buddhist might call it the wheel of karma – a scientist might simply describe it as energy responding to energy.

And, in fact, that’s the most important aspect of just how badly negative gossip affects the gossiper. If you’re wasting your energy in talking crap, you have immediately reduced the time and energy available to you to do the really important things that you have to do today. You don’t need to be a mathematician to calculate that time wasted on gossip reduces the time available for the things you have to do. And, yet, I come across lots of people who complain that they just don’t have enough hours in the day to do all the things on their “To Do” list!

Cut out negative gossip – stop wasting your time delighting in bad news. Stop reading the crap in newspapers (don’t get me wrong, we all have to keep up with what’s happening in the world – but we don’t have to wallow in the “news” about rape, assault, murder and so-called normal people generally behaving badly). Stop channel-hopping – immersing yourself in the “reality TV” that brings road accidents, car chases, and real crime into your living room. That’s got nothing to do with reality – reality is to be found in the wonder of the present moment. Focus your mind – why not start talking about good things, talking about how good people are, swapping nice stories instead of competing with each other at the water-cooler for who can tell the most depressing story – about someone being mugged, cars being stolen, people with serious illness. You know it as well as I do, all you have to do is earwig the conversations that are going on around you all the time to get a feel for what I’m talking about. Negative energy contributes to a negative world – stress, worry, anxiety, violence and war. Every drop of “negative” adds to the sea of negativity.

Stop it. Start behaving like a responsible adult. Focus on the good stuff. Not only will you feel better – not only will a few people around you feel better for it too – you’ll be more upbeat and focused to wholeheartedly do what really needs to be done today. You might just change your life.

The Trouble With Positive Thinking

It’s bizarre the number of people who swear by the benefits of Positive Thinking but have very little to show for it. Of course, positive thinking is far better than negative thinking, but it is still just thinking – and most of the thinking that we do exercises our conscious mind, that small part of our mind that plays little or no part in the creation of our everyday lives. Rather, it is our programmed subconscious mind that creates our automatic behaviour as a result of which our version of reality unfolds before our very eyes. It is our subconscious that creates stress, anxiety and the fear of taking the brave and courageous decisions that we need to often take if we are, indeed, to follow up on our positive thinking. Of course, the kind of decisions that I’m talking about are only “brave” or “courageous” to normal, crazy people.

Even though positive thinking is better than the negative alternative, thinking stops doing. Or worse, recent work in the US indicates that positive thinking has blinded otherwise well-informed business people from the obvious pitfalls of pursuing a certain course of action – senior figures in the banking world get a particular mention! That aside, at very best, too much thinking is a dangerous thing.

If you really wanted to pursue the route of Personal Growth, you would be far better of indulging in a little positive doing! In other words, having prioritized the things that are truly important to your success and happiness, actually doing just the important things that need to be done to achieve your goals, to Change Your Life or, indeed, to play the perfect game of golf – if that is what turns you on! If you have financial worries or your business is suffering as a result of the economy, if you feel inadequate in certain business or social situations, if your relationship is on the rocks or if your health is deteriorating, if you hate your job or hate your life – you have got to take action. By action I mean real action, not the normal automatic reaction that makes things worse rather than better and, indeed, not more of the same. If you want something different in your business, career or life, you’ve got to do something different – thinking about it will not only get you nowhere, it may actually convince you to take no action at all.

But, how will you know what positive action needs to be taken, what doing needs to be done? Well, you can’t do anything without a clear and present mind. Too often we are paralysed for want of stepping back from the perceived mess in which we find ourselves, too often the normal mind is too muddled – and positive thinking may actually muddle it more. To embark on the correct positive action, you need to take one step back from all your cares, worries and frustrations. You’re going to have to take or make a few minutes each day to experience the reality of the here and now. You need to come to your senses – you have five of them, it’s time that you used them. In doing so, you will be more present which, in turn, means that you will have presence – the hallmark of all great positive doers.

Positive Beliefs Make the Impossible – POSSIBLE

People tend to dismiss the effects of negative beliefs. They think that because it’s in your mind, it doesn’t affect anything. However, this is not correct. Thoughts have much more power than you realize. It doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not; it IS a reality!

In the field of Social Psychology, it’s called the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy – what you believe happens. Look at the following example:

A young salesman was sent to a tough customer. His manager told him that this customer was hard to deal with and very resistant, but by being persistent, the salesman always got the order. The manager told the new salesman it was a sure thing; this particular customer, no matter how difficult he was to the salesman ALWAYS placed an order. The young salesman was totally assured. He knew what to expect and was prepared to tough it out with the customer because he KNEW the customer would buy. The customer ALWAYS bought; he just made it difficult.

Prepared, confident and excited, the young man went to the business and began the sales process. The customer was tough, very tough. The young man had never encountered such a tough customer but the new salesman knew what the outcome would be. He KNEW the customer was going to buy; the manager had years of experience with this customer. And sure enough, eventually the customer placed the order the young man expected.

He went back to the office and submitted the order and didn’t think anymore about it until his manager called him in. The manager asked him how in the world did he get this order.  The young man was confused. Didn’t this customer always order?

Well, the new salesman had gone to the wrong business! He went to a business that his company had been trying to retain as a customer for over 20 years and had never sold anything to them. The manager was shocked! How had this inexperienced salesman succeeded where veteran salespeople over 20 years of time had not?

The answer is simple. Because the thought he was at a difficult customer that was always a sure sale, he BELIEVED there was going to be a sale. He acted like there was going to be a sale and projected that onto the customer. There was a sale.

Now, what would have happened if the new salesman had been told no one had been able to sell a thing to this business for 20 years? Yes, NO SALE!

Negative Beliefs – Negative Life

People see the movie, The Secret, try some of the ideas in it but don’t get the results they are looking for. Why is this?

It’s due to blocks within the system. Negative beliefs that cause what we desire to be blocked. It’s been found that positive programming helps to overcome negative beliefs. When you add the positive programming to special brain enhancing tones, you have a powerful tool to remove negative beliefs.

The clearing audio does just this. It provides a wide variety of positive programming statements with binaural tones to add to the power of the programming.  The clearing audio is economical, relaxing and effective. Give it a try today.

Can the Mind Heal Disease?

It is well known in the medical profession that a positive attitude is critical for recovery. It is so well known that part of the prognosis is based on the attitude of the patient!

The reason this is so important is that the Mind is a critical part of the healing process. It doesn’t really matter what is wrong with the patient as the following true story indicates.

A man’s elderly father was slowly dying from tuberculosis. This was in the days before antibiotics were available to treat the disease. The elderly gentleman was very religious.

One day, his son presented him with an odd ring. The setting of the ring, rather than a gem, held a simple piece of wood. The son told his father that he had met an old monk. The monk told him that this ring contained a piece of the cross on which Jesus was crucified and had incredible healing powers. The son had given the monk a donation and received the ring to give to his father.

The elderly man was elated and immediately put on the ring. The very next morning, the elderly man woke up completely free of TB; his lung damage was healed and there was no trace of the disease in his body! The old man lived another 15 years before finally passing away from old age in his 90s.

Now this is the interesting part, there was no monk. The son had found the piece of wood on a sidewalk and had it set in a ring. Knowing his father’s strong religious conviction, the son had created, what we call in Social Psychology, a cover story using elements that would appeal to his father.

So, because his father BELIEVED the story, a miracle occurred. A deadly pathogen was purged from his body and years of lung damaged disappeared, literally overnight! A simple piece of wood off the sidewalk activated the POWER of the MIND!

Our beliefs affect every aspect of our lives, including our health! The field of Quantum Physics has experimentally demonstrated this reality.
